An extra big Thank You to Child Friendly Leeds for having us at the Child Friendly Leeds awards on Thursday night, to share the Big Thank You with attendees. It was an honour to be in the presence of so many people who have made a difference in the Leeds community. From the performers, to the nominees, to the winners, the whole evening was truly "out of this world".
I’d like to say a Big Thank You to SJK Taxis, based in Yeadon, who never fail to pick me up within minutes and save the day – whether that means rushing me to the train station when I’ve left it to the last minute, or taking me home from a big night out after the shocking realisation that I have work the next morning…
Big thank you to my boss at work who came into the office over the weekend to mop up the water from Storm Ciara.
A genuine unsung hero in the Leeds area is the Founder of the Global CPAD Campaign, based in Aireborough. He has raised funds for numerous Public Access Defibrillators which are located all over Leeds and nearby areas and have already saved 6 lives including that of a Leeds councillor. I am amazed that Leeds City Council have not already recogised his acheivements with some sort of award. I understand he is a retiree and this is done purely on a volunteer basis.
A big thank you to Brian Firth from Guiseley who launched a campaign to fund Public Access Defibrillators in the community. Over the last 5 years he has installed nearly 200 accessible defibrillators, mostly in the Leeds area which have saved 6 lives already.
