I would like to say a big thank you to everyone who has contributed across the health system and in the community to using antibiotics appropriately to help in the fight against antibiotic resistance. This means we can ensure antibiotics are effective when we really need them. Winter’s a great time to remind people that antibiotics aren’t effective against common infections such as a cold.

Id like to say a really big thank you to Maureen who works hard all year round working within communities in Leeds. In particular the work she does with those who struggle both before and after the Christmas period. She works tirelessly to make sure that as many people as possible receive something at Christmas whether this be a Christmas hamper, food and clothes donations, winter warmers for the elderly and toys for children all so that families and elderly who struggle don't go without. Community lunches are also something Maureen and the team she works with pull together which are especially important over the winter period which is a time where many are often socially isolated. These lunches provide time for those vulnerable groups to be brought together in a warm, festive environment to enjoy a meal together and the opportunity to participate in activities. The work Maureen does is invaluable and I'm sure those who know her would agree. Thank you Maureen!

A HUGE Big Thank You to my truly inspirational friend Jacqui Drake - who is continuing her efforts to raise £1M for Leeds Cares @ Bexley Wing. She has smashed through her 10% target - onwards and upwards Jacqui. You are a true star!

Thank you to my sister for sorting us out with an Asda delivery for when we brought my new born daughter home from hospital. Our cupboards were bare and she rescued us!

Thank you to the Ambulance and A&E service who responded so quickly and looked after my dad in his last hours of life last winter - and also to the IAPT team for spending the time helping to build my mental health back up after it! I don't know how I would have coped without your patience and support.

Thank you to all the incredible staff at LGI who have been there for my daughter from the moment she was born - the paediatric team, cardio team, neonatal nurses and GP! Not to mention the doctors, nurses and community midwife who have looked after me!! The NHS really is amazing and was there when I really needed it!
